The history of the Department of General Physics, as the history of Vinnytsia National Technical University, is dynamic and full of various events. It consists of a number of stages, usually related to scientific areas that have developed at the department in a given period. The history of the department dates back to 1960, which was called "Department of General Scientific Disciplines" as a structural unit of the Vinnytsia General Technical Faculty of the Kyiv Technological Institute of Food Industry. The first head of the department was Associate Professor Igor Yurkovsky. From September 1965 an experienced teacher SI Reznyk came to the department, who strengthened the methodical work of the department. In 1965, the department changed its name to the Department of Higher Mathematics and Physics.
In 1966, the department began to carry out the first research work "Calculation, design and manufacture of universal magnetic installation" (supervisor - Senior Lecturer A. Thorivsky). In 1966, the department was transformed into an independent department of physics as a structural unit of the Vinnytsia General Technical Faculty of the Kyiv Order of Lenin Polytechnic Institute. The head of the department was appointed Art. off Thorivsky Adolf Maksymovych. He was one of the first teachers at the origins of the VPI. He was repeatedly awarded as the best lecturer of the institute.
Since 1967, the General Technical Faculty has been relocating to the Vinnytsia Institute of Trade and Economics. The Department of Physics is headed by a talented scientist, Associate Professor Alexander Buntar, who works to study the scattering of X-rays and electrons by anisotropic systems, study the nature of interatomic interaction and its relationship to the physical properties of solids, study the melting and crystallization mechanisms; study of the microstructure of liquid metals and alloys, as well as the physical properties of superconducting fulleride crystals.
During this period, the scientific and methodological work of the department intensified. Much attention was paid to the development of the educational and laboratory base of the department. Modern physical laboratories, a hall for lecture demonstrations were created, new teaching technologies were introduced, and a training and methodological complex was developed to provide a course in physics.
During this period, the Department of Physics paid considerable attention to the coordination of educational and methodological work of the relevant departments of universities of the Podolsk region in the role of the reference department. A significant number of demonstration lectures, practical and laboratory classes were conducted by experienced professors, associate professors and other pedagogical staff, which facilitated the exchange of experience and improved the quality of teaching physics.
In 1974, a talented lecturer Sergey Grigoryevich Avdeev came to the department. Many laboratory works were created directly with his participation, which became the main component of such educational laboratories as: "Nuclear Physics", "Solid State Physics", "Molecular Physics". By the way, these laboratory works are still used today in the educational process and are relevant. Students were actively involved in the manufacture of laboratory stands. Since 1975, Volodymyr Danylovych Borysenko has been working as a senior lecturer at the department. In December of the same year, he was transferred to the newly organized Faculty of Civil Engineering to organize the educational process of special disciplines specializing in Metal Structures. Also during this period, wonderful lecturers Chernysh Volodymyr Valentynovych and Bourdain Volodymyr Mefodiyovych come to the department. Thanks to their efforts, scientific and technical conferences were organized for young scientists. At this time, the scientific potential of the department is significantly strengthened.
At this time, the Department of Physics performed six research papers:
